Paru -Qum or paru -Qua

Hello, i have this script to show available numer of updates in polybar

total_updates=$(($(checkupdates 2> /dev/null | wc -l || echo 0) + $(paru -Qua 2> /dev/null | wc -l || echo 0)))
echo "${total_updates:-0}"

The script adds the available updates from the official repositories with those from the aur if there are any.

But I want to know which is the appropriate option -Qua or -Qum, apparently both options work, but you who are the experts, I would like to know which would be the most appropriate and correct.
