If you delete the api-docs repository (or rename it to something like api-docs-archive), then you can rename this new one (apidocs) to api-docs.
This will automatically preserve redirects from apidocs > api-docs, which means all HTTP and Git-based operations for commits, reported issues, etc. all continue to work (see also https://help.github.com/articles/renaming-a-repository/).
If the name without the dash is preferred, I would recommend you still rename it to api-docs and then immediately rename it back to apidocs. This means that the old name "api-docs" will be captured as redirect to the new "apidocs" instead of still being attached to "api-docs-archive".
Let's merge
apidocs

and then remove this repo to avoid confusion.api-docs
