NanaZip provides a $99.99 USD Sponsor Edition addon to the Microsoft Store to attract more sponsors and contributors.

It's free for NanaZip source code repository contributors and NanaZip sponsors who sponsored before March 30, 2024.

Feature

The only difference for NanaZip Sponsor Edition is showing "Appreciate your sponsorship" button instead of "Sponsor NanaZip" button in the next stable version of NanaZip's toolbar like the Visual Studio administrator mode.

Purpose

We hope every NanaZip user is happier than before. Here is why we offer a sponsored version:

  • Most users: We are happy with using a $99.99 product freely without feature differences.
  • Contributors: We want to show "Appreciate your sponsorship" button to others. It's free because we are the contributors. Contribute it if you want to get that free.
  • Sponsors: You can show "Appreciate your sponsorship" button to others because sponsors deserve that.
  • The author of NanaZip, Kenji Mouri: Finally, NanaZip has a price. Nobody will think this is a worthless product. Efforts from contributors and I should have value even NanaZip is a fully free and open source project.

Notes for NanaZip source code repository contributors

If you are the contributor of NanaZip source code repository, please contact with [email protected] for more information.

Note: If you are the contributor of Project Mile projects which is used in NanaZip, you are eligibled too. I think I have sent e-mails or QQ message to all eligible Project Mile contributors.

Notes for NanaZip sponsors who sponsored before March 30, 2024

I think I have sent e-mails or QQ message to all eligible NanaZip sponsors. Contact with [email protected] for more information.

FAQ

The price is too steep, will be sponsor if cheaper

You can get it with $0 if you contribute to this repository via pull requests. So, even if it was $5 or even $10, you're not interested, you're a typical liar in some views.

Source code contributors are the priority for me. In another aspect, we provide a way to buy the honor and make someone look like a source code contributor. So, the price is not steep for that.

If the price is too cheap, people won't be happy to attend the source code contribution. This is what I don't want to see.

In the current status, nobody will think this is a worthless product. Efforts from contributors and I should have a reference price even though the NanaZip is a fully free and open-source project.

Why not provide option for the hiding the button

There is no option for hiding the sponsor button because making it more visually distinct is important for the community plan which can be named contribute-or-pay in some views.

Why not use icon only

Everyone knows the smile icon in Internet Explorer, Office, etc will be ignored. So, the explicit text in all states of NanaZip's sponsor button is necessary.

Notes

This topic will be locked because someone always have all sorts of excuses for rejecting the Sponsor button, even if this design is already well thought out and have no effect for the user experience.

Someone will be banned forever if open the new issues or pull requests for removing the Sponsor button.
