Is there a better way for gettting github preview of files with front matter?

To see the source code on GitHub for these files, best way I've been able to find is the blame view, because by default it looks ugly: https://github.com/IIIT-Delhi/byld-website/blob/master/site/hackathons.md

Can we change the extension of these files? Can we do something else?

The contributing guide links to these files and expects them to be easily inspectable, so that where we need this
