This guide is describes the examination procedure to be followed when certifing a candidate as a FIWARE expert.
A FIWARE Expert is recognised as having fulfilled the following:
- They have made a solid recognised contribution to the FIWARE Community
- They have a thorough cross-chapter understanding of all aspects of FIWARE including the latest developments in the catalogue
- They are able to describe how to architect FIWARE-based solutions properly at scale
- They are up-to-date with all aspects of the NGSI-v2 and NGSI-LD interfaces and other FIWARE fundamentals
- They have a solid understanding of what it takes to make a product FIWARE-ready

A modified exam process is used certifing a candidate as a Local Expert in B2B Data Spaces LEDBS.
An LEDBS is recognised as having fulfilled the following:
- They have made a solid recognised contribution to the FIWARE Community or Data Spaces in General
- They have a thorough cross-chapter understanding of all aspects of FIWARE including the latest developments in the catalogue
- They are able to describe how to architect FIWARE-based solutions properly at scale
- They are up-to-date with all aspects of the NGSI-LD interface and other FIWARE fundamentals
- They have a basic understanding of what it takes to make a product FIWARE-ready
For the FIWARE element, the LEDBS marking scheme differs from he standard FIWARE Expert Exam. In general, LEBDS knowledge is broader but more shallow and also includes a separate examination describing correct usage of iSHARE and the concepts of distributed trust.

The examination process consists of a face-to-face interview.
The face-to-face examination will consist of the following parts:
- Discussion of the body-of-work
- Discussion on NGSI interfaces
- Discussion on the FIWARE Catalogue
- Discussion on correct Architecture of a “Powered by FIWARE” solutions/platform
- Discussion on “FIWARE-ready” technologies
