View Component Summary

Krish Majumdar edited this page Jan 6, 2023 · 5 revisions

This page generates a document containing a summary of the information about a single component and all actions that have been performed on it. Such a summary may be useful, for example, to print out and keeping with a component during transportation, or as a convenient offline report of a completed assembly and its past activities. It can be accessed by pressing the blue [View and print the component's summary] button found on the component's information page.

The first page of the summary document always contains information about the component itself, with the following details given:

  • component type
  • full UUID
  • component name (if available in the user-defined information)
  • QR code
  • current component version, the date of the last edit to the component record, and the name of the user who made the last edit
  • populated component type form containing user-defined information

Subsequent pages in the document contain information about any actions that have been performed on the component (one action per page), with the following details given for each one:

  • action type
  • action ID
  • current action version, the date of the last edit to the action record, and the name of the user who made the last edit
  • populated action type form containing user-defined information

The summary document has been pre-formatted and arranged for best layout on standard A4 paper with no headers or footers. The user should only need to press the blue [Print Summary] button at the top of the page, and then do the standard steps for printing through their browser.

At the time of this writing (January 2023), all component types share the same summary document template, but it is possible - and indeed, probably more useful - for different component types to use bespoke templates, depending on what information is relevant and most useful to show for each one. This will be explored more in the future.
