Add ORCID iD via Account & Profile

Dear all,

A user registered with email address and password. All other information required by the sign up prompt was also provided, except the ORCID iD. After confirmation of the account via the confirmation email, the user can login and go to Account & Profile and might want to add his ORCID iD. However, this field is grayed out and prefilled with e.g. 0000-0002-1234-5678. How to add the ORCID iD?

One workaround seems to be to log out and then log in via ORCID iD. I am not sure if this is a workaround or a solution, but it wasn't an obvious solution to me.
