Description

When using the Polylang plugin to translate the Search placeholder while using a child theme, it doesn't work correctly. However, it works perfectly with the main Neve theme.

We have already copied the wpml-config.xml file from the parent theme folder into the child theme folder and updated it as described in this guide: How to Translate Themes with a Child Theme.

Step-by-step reproduction instructions

  1. Install Polylang and set up languages
  2. Add a Neve child theme
  3. Copy the wpml-config.xml file from the parent theme folder into the child theme folder and update it according to this guide.
  4. Add a search form or search icon component in the header
  5. Add translation for search placeholder in polylang plugin
  6. check the translation on frontend
