wlc deprecation process #287

As many of you know, wlc is on life support because the latest stable release of sway depends on it. However, we're making rapid progress on sway 1.0, which is based on our new wlroots library instead of wlc:

When sway 1.0 is released, the sway project will no longer have any reason to support wlc development, and I will step down as maintainer. If someone else wants to step in and take over, please reach out. Otherwise, deprecation notices will be added and this repository will be ignored.

I recommend all wlc users work on porting their compositors to wlroots. We're prepared to help you in this process, please join #sway-devel on irc.freenode.net to ask questions and get started.

wlc is now officially deprecated and will no longer receive any future support.
