My old temporary space was quite inadequate so I upgraded the Farm. I used the macOS GUI all this time. Last week I was testing by trying to plot 8 plots in parallel to a 2T external mobile drive (Slim 2) over USB using my 256 SSD on a Mac Pro. It was duly pointed out to me that the system would be inadequate.
I stated that I was planning to upgrade to a 2T SSD and try again. Another, more accountable user informed me that even 2T would not be enough to handle 8 plots in parallel and I should really RTFM (in my own terminology). I scanned the intructions and ordered the larger SSD and thought a 32T raid running on Thunderbolt 2 would be a more respectable farm.
The parts arrived last night, but we had 3 episodes left of a thriller miniseries to watch with the wife, so I just looked at the new parts and binged on the TV and some Jerk Chicken, Peas and Rice instead.
I got up at 3:30 am PST put on the trusty robe and grabbed the Mac Pro off of the shelf and out back. I hooked up a hose to my compressor — like the inimitable Homebrew legend, Steve Inness taught me — took off the cover of my Mac Pro dust filter and blew it all off. The swap to the new rig didn't take long and I left most of my previous hard drives unplugged and did a clean install of Big Sur and relegated the old Beta 11.13 build to the old SSD in a new external housing, and migrated all the folders, except System, to the newly installed SSD. Ran like a charm.
I started up the Chia GUI and — sort of — took the advice of zachlankton and pared down the plotting aspirations from 8, in parallel, to four.

I set the plots to go to the 32T drive, but forgot to reset the old plot directory to the new drive as well; it was 4am and I didn't have the coffee. Everything appeared to be going well…
However, around 10am the Console log stared spitting out these errors:

… ad absurdum until I noticed around 5:30 that there was an issue.
It was asking for the old Farm disk and some tempfiles were showing:
plot-k32-2021-03-24-07-44-7cbc49622186cf685ca99cedd6ce62122ed8d95bece0dfac6968bbb514c510ab.plot.table7.tmp
"table7.tmp" ??? That should be "4" max. So I just plugged in the old drive to the hub and the error messages stopped. The .tmp files strted disappearing again and the SSD free space is slowly increasing again.
It appears that the new plots will end up on the Slim 2 ( back forty ) when I inteded to have them on the raid. Can they be moved?
I'm wondering how many plots I will end up with.
The button in the Farm tab says "ADD A PLOT," I think it would be better to change that to "ADD A PLOT DIRECTORY" and then "Done" or something for the finish, to differentiate it from the instructions on the Plot tab. Was this suggestion already made?
