Notable Changes

Client

• rpc server: break legacy CLI options and remove "backward compatible HTTP server" paritytech/substrate#13384
  • breaking change for old CLI interface, will require update of Astar docs
• Add txpool RPC and impl new_pending_transaction_filter polkadot-evm/frontier#1073
  • we might be able to remove some of the vendor code, specifically the part related to TxPool
• sql backend w/ receipt log indexing  polkadot-evm/frontier#883
  • investigate this more in a follow-up task, potentially we can also make use of this to optimize dedicated EVM node usage

Runtime

• Deprecate Currency; introduce holds and freezing into fungible traits paritytech/substrate#12951
  • will require follow-up task to migrate dApp staking & collator selection to use Holds & Freezes
  • also impacts frontend due to change in some extrinsic call names
  • users can NO LONGER have their entire balance reserved - at least the existential deposit has to be free
• XCM: Remove & replace XCM Convert trait paritytech/polkadot#7329
  • not part of polkadot-v0.9.43 but moved the required code over to our repo
  • required for integration with other projects
• Add Support for Foreign Assets paritytech/cumulus#2133
  • there will be follow-up actions from Parity to educate teams how to use this & explain their design choices

Test

  • we should switch our tests over to XCM emulator where it makes sense
