Title: Copying Issue with Farsi Bible Verses Adjacent to Sub-Headers

Summary: The user reports an issue where verses immediately preceding sub-headers in the Farsi Bible cannot be copied using AndBible Version 5.0.828. This problem occurs consistently across different Android devices.

Key Points:

  1. Issue Description: Verses immediately before sub-headers in the Farsi Bible cannot be copied, while verses before or after the sub-header can be copied.
  2. Reproduction Steps: The issue can be replicated in Matthew 1:16-18 by trying to copy verse 17, which fails while verses 16 and 18 can be copied.
  3. Suspected Cause: The verse number "17" is displayed out of order, possibly causing the issue. The wrong order of elements might be affecting the copy function.
  4. Devices Affected: The problem occurs on both Android 6.0.1 and /e/OS 2.2 (based on Android 11).
  5. Farsi Specifics: The issue might relate to Farsi's right-to-left writing system and the need for complex fonts.

Original Message:

It concerns all the FARSI Bible versions as far as I have observed. As soon as a sub-header is in the text, the adjacent verse BEFORE the sub-header cannot be copied.

I am now using AndBible Version 5.0.828.
And it is the same behavior on both of my phones, one with Android 6.0.1 and one with /e/OS 2.2 (based on Android 11).

HOW TO CHECK THE PROBLEM:

You can check this problem even when you cannot read Farsi.
Please download the Farsi Bible "FarHezareNoh (fa)."
Then open Gospel of Matthew chapter 1.
The first sub-header within this chapter comes before verse 18.

Now you can mark ONE word of verse 16 and copy the whole verse. It works.
(i.e., the copy function works TWO verses BEFORE the sub-header).
You can mark ONE word of verse 18 and copy the whole verse. It works.
(i.e., the copy function works immediately AFTER the sub-header).

BUT YOU CANNOT mark ONE word of verse 17 and copy the whole verse.
The copy function simply DOES NOT work with ANY verse that is immediately BEFORE any sub-header.
(You can even mark a block from verse 16 until verse 18 and try this copy function: verse 16 and verse 18 is being copied, but verse 17 is OMITTED!)

As this issue is the same on all three different Android mobile phones that I have checked, I assume it must be possible to reproduce it easily.
But I have no clue where it comes from.

What is in general particular with Farsi and different from English?

  1. Farsi is written from right to left.
  2. Farsi needs always a complex font to represent the various context-dependent character joinings and additional diacritical signs.

What else can be noticed?
The sub-headers have always a different font than the normal text.

I would start with analyzing ONE passage: Matthew 1:16-18 to find out why these short 3 verses are not properly displayed.

My first question would be WHY is the number "17" displayed at the wrong place?
You find the numbers "18 17" adjacent WITHOUT any text in between.
The text of verse 17 is placed BEFORE the number of verse 17.

So the WRONG current order is:

  1. Text of verse 17
  2. Sub-header (that belongs before verse 18)
  3. [!!!!] Number of verse 17
  4. Number of verse 18.

The CORRECT order should be:

  1. Number of verse 17
  2. Text of verse 17
  3. Sub-header (that belongs before verse 18)
  4. Number of verse 18.

Which issue is causing this strange position of the "number of verse 17"?
Perhaps that would shed light on the whole issue?

As I use the Farsi Bible on a daily basis to copy some text to some Farsi-speaking friends, I would appreciate it very much if this issue could be solved.
